I've been busy making Easter baskets for All Tucked In, a wonderful local children's and ladie's boutique. I rounded up some chunky, wicker thrift store baskets and spray painted them in spring green, pink, hot pink, and white.
Then I made my favorite flowers from some felted wools in spring colors I've had stashed away. Roses, and daisies, and daffodils. I made up my own patterns for all the flowers, but if I do say so myself, I really like how the daffodil pattern turned out!
So, just in case you happen to be in the mood to make daffodils out of old sweaters-- oh, isn't everyone always in the mood to make daffodils from old sweaters? Oh, come on, of course you are! ;) Here you go. It's very easy. And if you've never used a felted wool sweater to make anything, there's a great how-to over at craft stylish. It's very easy too. The hardest part might be finding a yellow sweater, but once you've accomplished that, you're good to go.
Cut a small strip off the bottom ribbed edge of the sweater. About 3 1/2" x 1 1/4" in size. If you have a pair of pinking scissors, pink one edge. Hot glue edges together to make a circle like so.
Cut out flower shapes from the sweater, daffodils usually have six points, so that's how I made mine. Mine measured 3 1/2" from tip to tip.
Put a small circle of hot glue in the center of each daffodil, and then glue your center circle onto the daffodil flower. Hold it in place for about 30 seconds, until it dries. Now run a light bead of hot glue along the outside bottom base of the circle you just glued on. And quickly put the daffodil in an egg carton. Like so. Let them sit in the egg carton for a few minutes while the glue hardens. This will make the daffodil leaves curl up slightly instead of being flat.
Or just go to the grocery store and buy yourself a bouquet of daffodils and save yourself alot of work... Yesterday, I spotted daffodil bouquets in my grocery store for $2.99 (*sigh*) This is what happens when your brain is creatively ADHD and you have no patience to wait for spring ;)
Anyhoo, sorry about the photos-- not much sunshine while I was working. Back in a bit with some better finished basket photos! Happy weekend to you! xoKelly
